The Massachusetts Alzheimer's Disease Research Center (ADRC) was established in 1984 with funding from the National Institute on Aging. Now in its 25th year of operation, the ADRC is a multi-institutional consortium of Harvard affiliated facilities, including the Massachusetts General Hospital; the Brigham & Women's Hospital; the Harvard Division on Aging; the Institute for Aging Research at Hebrew SeniorLife and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Each institution supports research in AD and has a proven track record of excellence. By joining together, we amplify existing research facilities and accelerate the pace of understanding and the treatment of AD.
The ADRC encompasses five Core units: an Administrative Core , a Clinical Core , a Database Management and Statistics Core , a Neuropathology Core , and an Education and Information Transfer Core . The ADRC also supports four specific research projects funded for 3-5 years, and annually designates three or four pilot research projects that are funded for 1 year.
Please visit the National Alzheimer's Coordinating Center and the National Institute on Aging's Alzheimer's Disease Education and Referral (ADEAR) Center websites for more information on collaborative research on AD and the latest news releases on NIA AD research findings.
